ROMPS – The “Regular Orienteering Maps Programme” operates in and around our club area. It used to be known as “Map of the Month” and each month control kites for “do-it yourself” training courses are put out in a different forest. Map packs are available from the reception desk at Glenmore Lodge – or contact The National Orienteering Centre 01479 861374. Or go to http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/index/natcen/page/regular-orienteering-map-programme/

Tuesday evenings next year

By popular demand the Tuesday-Orienteering series will be back next year.  From the beginning of April until the end of September we’ll have a very low-key orienteering activity nearby, every Tuesday from 5 to 7p.m..   Volunteers are invited to offer their services to put on any of the sessions, with as much or as little guidance and assistance as they want.  Please contact Hilary (hilary@scottish-orienteering.org) to book your dates – and put a block-booking in your 2010 diary to keep Tuesday evenings for orienteering.

These sessions are primarily intended for adults of any level of skill and fitness, and the emphasis is very much simplicity and enjoyment.  More information for participants will follow in due course.

BASOC LOCAL EVENTS have three courses, YELLOW (1.5/2.0 km), ORANGE (2.5 km) and GREEN 3.5/4.0 km).

BASOC DISTRICT EVENTS have the full range of colour-coded courses from WHITE/YELLOW to BROWN and all maps are pre-marked. Registration usually opens about 30 minutes before the first starts.

BASOC ENTRY FEES: LOCAL EVENTS £4 (non-BOF)/£3 (BOF) seniors, £1.50 juniors DISTRICT EVENTS £7 (non-BOF)/£5 (BOF) seniors, £2 juniors

SCOTTISH O LEAGUE (SOL) EVENTS have the full range of Men's and Women's age-class courses (mainly pre-entry) and some entry-on-the-day colour-coded courses ( WHITE, YELLOW, ORANGE and LIGHT GREEN). Details of these events are available on the website of the organising club.

SCHOOL EVENTS BASOC also works with local primary and secondary schools and hopes, from time to time, to put on events and training exercises especially for individual schools or groups of schools. These will be negotiated with schools as required and are not included in our main fixture list.
