ROMPS – The “Regular Orienteering Maps Programme” operates in and around our club area. It used to be known as “Map of the Month” and each month control kites for “do-it yourself” training courses are put out in a different forest. Map packs are available from the reception desk at Glenmore Lodge – or contact The National Orienteering Centre 01479 861374. Tuesday evenings this year
By popular demand the Tuesday-Orienteering series is back this year. From 6th April until the end of September we’ll have a very low-key orienteering activity somewhere in BASOC's area, every Tuesday from 5 to 7p.m.. Volunteers are invited to offer their services to put on any of the sessions, with as much or as little guidance and assistance as they want. Please contact Hilary (hilary@scottish-orienteering.org) to book your dates – and put a block-booking in your diary to keep Tuesday evenings for orienteering.

These sessions are primarily intended for adults of any level of skill and fitness, and the emphasis is very much simplicity and enjoyment.

August 31st 2010:

The evenings are drawing in so there’s a strict time limit for next Tuesday – on offer will be an ELASTIC course that can be anything from 3km at TD3 to 6km at nearly TD5 – you choose as you’re going round.  But you have to finish within the hour.  Severe penalties will be applied for late return.

Venue is Uath Lochan (at the lochans themselves), guaranteed no midges, no rain, just a few flying pigs perhaps.  We’ll be avoiding the rougher parts of the forest.  Starts between 5 & 6 p.m. as usual.

If you’d like to come back to mine afterwards and admire the almost complete extension, you’re more than welcome, though the official extension-warming party will follow later in the year, after the grand opening, ribbon-cutting etc...  Feel free to bring some grub if you want to eat, though I’ll try to rustle something veggie up.

See you Tuesday, Hilary.
