WHAT TO DO AT YOUR FIRST EVENTS.

Teachers/parents and Junior Coaching
Please contact the coach concerned well before any coaching involving your children. Exercises and maps have to be prepared
in advance of each session. Please let them know about 3 days in advance if your children are coming.

Coaching sessions are free. If juniors have attended 2 BASOC sessions and wish to continue, we ask them to join the club.
Club membership is free but you also have to join the Scottish Orienteering Association (SOA), which costs £3, and the
British Orienteering Federation (BOF). If you intend to enter only local events, BOF Local Membership is free.

What do the young orienteers need to bring?

Wear: comfortable clothes and trainers that can stand getting wet and muddy! Avoid jeans if possible. Leggings such as Ron
Hill Tracksters are ideal. You will also need 2 warm tops and a waterproof and windproof jacket. You should also bring dry
shoes, socks and trousers to change into at the end of the session.

Bring: A compass if you have one; if possible, a thick plastic map bag; a non-fizzy drink.
