Great UK Maps - Caw

,

Caw is a large and complex open fell area in the South Lakes. The centre piece of the map is the conical Caw Fell itself. The surrounding moorland is littered with abundant rock features including boulders and crags.

The altitude of Caw Fell offers course planners the opportunity to plan difficult route choice legs which usually involve a decision between going up and over with a big height gain or round the side with less height but greater distance.

The area was last used during the Lakes 5 Days in 2010 and is regularly used for important events once every two years or so. The map was produced by LOC.
