Nethybridge Tues 9th Aug 2011

Callum Scott invites us back to Nethybridge for bike vs. runner fun.  Bring food and drink for social afterwards.

Thirty six individuals took part in this mountain bike orienteering event, enjoying a sunny evening cycling around the tracks and paths of Nethybridge.

For some of the BASOC members, cycling was a great antidote to six days of running the previous week, at the Scottish 6 Days event near Oban.  They were joined by a number of newcomers to the sport of orienteering, who all did well to get round the course.  Many choose to hunt for O kites, in packs of two or more - more fun and also company when lost!

A friendly social gathering followed, to compare stories, splits and route choices and to help eat Hilary's chillie mountain.  Many thanks to all who brought food contributions, to those that helped collect the controls and to all who turned up to make the event such a success.

More soon.

Nethy

This map covers the village of Nethy Bridge and the surrounding forest which offer the opportunity to combine some street O with forest terrain. The forest itself is incredibly beautiful with some of the biggest trees on Speyside. The down side is that the forest is relatively featureless with deep heather underfoot.
