Uath Lochan, Tues 28th June 2011
Something slightly different and a bit more sociable, this is a score event. This means everyone starts at the same time, you have a fixed time (probably 1 hour, I'm still considering that) in which to visit as many controls as possible, thereby gaining points. As you should all then finish at about the same time as well, you'll have lots of opportunity to discuss the choices you made.
YOU choose which controls you're going to visit, and what order you're going to do them in. BRING A WATCH!
Fierce penalties will be applied for anyone who returns late!
Please arrive by 18:00 so everyone can start at 18:15. Before you set out I'll give you all a wee briefing so you know what you're doing and have some ideas of strategy (run like crazy is a good start but you need a bit more).
Afterwards we'll adjourn to Loch Insh Watersports bar/cafe for a lemonade or coffee... all welcome!

About the area/map
Uath Lochan
This is one of the best Speyside forests. There has been some felling recently but the best bits are still intact. To the east of road there are broad ridges of runnable scots pine plantation while to the west of the Uath Lochains, above a line of crags, there is a fantastic area of highly technical 'green' forest with boulders, marches and subtle re-entrat features. The area immediately north of the car park has abundant features and is excellent for a quick training session.
The May 2008 map is from Martin Dean's excellent orienteering blog
