Scottish Relays Champs Victory for BASOC
We had one of our best ever performances in the Scottish Orienteering Relay Championships last Sunday at Drummond Castle near Crieff. The women’s veteran team of Hilary Quick, Marion MacCormick and Hilary Scott snatched 2nd in 18+ Handicap while the men’s of Callum Scott, Alex Campbell and Andy Hyslop team pulled of a shock win in the 12+ handicap.
BASOC team manager Callum Scott said, “Competition was very tough with teams from all over Scotland and northern England. All six BASOC team members put in solid runs with few errors in physical and complex terrain while competing teams made costly mistakes. It’s fantastic to get two excellent results in one weekend for our small Highland club up against the bigger clubs further south. There’s no doubt that our regular Tuesday evening events have contributed to bringing club members up to a high standard of technical map reading ability and fitness”.
