JOINING BASOC

Our Club Subscription is in two parts - membership of the Scottish Orienteering Association - and membership of the British Orienteering Federation (either as a Local member, or as a National member, whichever you choose). At the present time our subscription does not pay towards the running of the club.

British Orienteering National Membership entitles you to run at virtually all events throughout the UK. Local members are able to take part in most UK events but pay higher entry fees for events held outwith Scotland.

British Orienteering membership is encouraged. There is a higher standard entry fee at local club events for anyone who is not a BOF member. National members also receive regular newsletters or magazines from BOF and from SOA.

NB: Family membership has been defined by BOF as couples or parents/guardians and any young persons under 25 years of age on 31 December 2008 who share the same permanent address.

The British Orienteering Federation membership year is from 1 January to 31 December and any new member (without a pre-existing BOF number) who wishes to join after 1 September can have 16 months membership provided they pay the appropriate membership fees for the following year.
