Run wild in the woods
Over the winter months this is in the dark, so you need a torch*. We go out orienteering, usually with a navigational focus. Call it training or just playing, it’s as hard as you want it to be, both physically and technically!
Newcomers are welcome and there is always someone to explain things and help you get started.
*We have three 1000 lumen headtorches for use by club members at Tuesday night O. Particularly aimed at relative newcomers - these will get you on a level playing field with the pros!
Meet at 6:30 prompt. Please come appropriately dressed for the weather on the night, the sort of thing you would wear if you were going for a trail run.
You need to be back by 7:30pm.
£2 Adults, £1 Juniors for BASOC or other orienteering club members.
£3 Adults, £1.50 Juniors for non members.
How to join the club
You do not need to be a member of a club to participate in orienteering, but joining Badenoch & Strathspey Orienteering Club brings many benefits.
Round up of the Junior Inter Area weekend by Kat McGougan.
The Junior inter areas is an annual competition where Scotland is split into 3 areas: North, West and East. BASOC competes for North, and after a narrow defeat last year, we were keen to win back the overall title!

North Area Training Day and Junior Inter Area weekend
Two exciting opportunities coming up for our juniors. First up is a North Area training day near Grantown and then a weekend of fun competition based from Stirling. Read on to find out more!
We now have T-shirts, Jackets and O-tops and Hoodies.
The perfect way to start orienteering. Come along to our family introduction to orienteering sessions and be coached by Mehmet Karatay, one of our club coaches, in the essentials of orienteering. The sessions run alongside our usual Tuesday training, so you'll get to meet the rest of us too!
