Local level event
Explanation of event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Directions / Parking
Use the public car park in Carrbridge. Cross the road to the village hall - use the SIDE entrance and remove O shoes before entering.
Map / Terrain
Lovely little local wood with few hills and very friendly boggy bits.
Registration and Start times
Registration and Download will be in the Village Hall.
Registration from 17:45 and starts from 18:00 to 18:45.
NOTE: all competitors MUST collect their folded map and their loose control descriptions from Registration in the Hall before they go to the Start. Long and Short course competitors may only look at their map once they have started; Score course competitors may look at their map after they collect it from Registration.
Start is approximately 200m from the Hall; initially the route is south alongside the road before turning into the wood along a track at the N edge of Landmark.
Finish is adjacent to the Hall.
Course Information
NNC League courses (all subject to final controlling):
Long (TD5): 4km, 120m climb, 20 controls; this course has a map turn over at control #9.
Short (TD5): 2.5km, 80m climb, 10 controls
Non-league course:
Score: time limit 1 hour, 15 controls.
SIAir will NOT be enabled, you have to punch at the Start, each control and the Finish.
Shadowing and Juniors. Note that anyone under the age of 14 MUST be accompanied on the course by an adult unless the parent/guardian can convince the organiser of the young orienteer's proven competence at night orienteering. If you shadow a junior on the Short/Long/Score you should declare yourself non-competitive to the organiser if later running one of those courses.
Entry Details
Entry via SIEntries. Fees: BOF / SOA members seniors £8, students/juniors £4; non-members seniors £10, students/juniors £5.
Entries will close at 23:58 on Sunday 26th November. Some entries on the night might be available, for the Score course only.
Dog restrictions
Dogs may be taken into the area on leads, but not in the hall please.

Facilities
We are most grateful to the community (specifically custodian Ruth) for use of Carrbridge village hall. Toilets and hot soup available here (donationbox for the soup, please bring cash).
Enter the hall by the side door and REMOVE DIRTY/SPIKED SHOES at the door.
Safety Notes
The area is bounded on 2 sides by roads and settlements, with the main railway line on the third side. Do not, under any circumstances, cross the fence towards the railway track.
Spare torch & whistles is required and mobiles strongly recommended at all NNC events. Random kit checks may take place. An extra top layer and high-vis reflective clothing may also be sensible choices.
