Event Report

Thank you for coming to the BASOC Festive Fun event, we hope you enjoyed your run around the woods at Nethy and a social chat afterwards.

Paul Frost not only got the results and RouteGadget up at the venue, he was also out north of the river at 9am placing units on the stakes, thank you Paul.
Johannes Petersen collected all the controls back in, yes he did volunteer for this as he wanted a run round, thank you Johannes (and also thanks to Jane & Anna who waited around for him to do this).

The 'results police' have checked the control sequence etc. and there are some adjustments made. These are shown in the 'Manual Adj' column.

  • was a '130' punched immediately after a '120' ? - Yes, everyone complied with this rule.
  • did every competitor visit 114 to 119 inclusive? No, quite a few did not - but they did go to some of the '120's'. 10 points have been deducted for every one of the 114 to 119 controls you did not visit.

The manual adjustments have been removed from the total points column and then the lateness penalties are applied to that.

Please do put up your RouteGadget, I am always interested in finding out where people went.

Course Information

There will be many 'easy' controls along with some which are a bit more challenging (in every sense!). You will have to choose between running along lovely paths through the woods or venturing off path through some energy-sapping deep heather - just think of all the Christmas pud you will be working off!

Explanation of Score courses

You don't have to visit all the controls! There is usually a time limit, instead of a set course. Points are scored for visiting controls, and deducted for finishing over the time limit. You decide which controls to visit, and in which sequence. Sometimes controls have different points values. You will need to carry a watch or phone, so you know how long you have been out.
