Pre Event Info

Through October we will start the change to orienteering in the dark, with something for everyone each week.  If the topic sounds a bit basic for you, don’t worry Hilary Q will have a cunning plan to make it more challenging!

Bring a headtorch or bike light or decent small hand-held torch with fresh batteries (or re-chargeable battery fully charged each week), preferably a spare one too, just in case.  Please also remember that it’ll be colder and you’ll be moving more slowly than you do in the daylight – so wear an extra layer, perhaps also gloves and a hat. We also recommend that you bring your mobile phone, perhaps in a bumbag (along with your spare torch).

Juniors must go in pairs, adults are most welcome to do the same if they wish, though we’re sure that before long you’ll really enjoy being out on your own in the forest in the dark.

Tuesday=O

Over the winter months this is in the dark, so you need a torch*. We go out orienteering, usually with a navigational focus. Call it training or just playing, it’s as hard as you want it to be, both physically and technically!
Newcomers are welcome and there is always someone to explain things and help you get started.

*We have three 1000 lumen headtorches for use by club members at Tuesday night O. Particularly aimed at relative newcomers - these will get you on a level playing field with the pros!

Meet at 6:30 prompt. Please come appropriately dressed for the weather on the night, the sort of thing you would wear if you were going for a trail run.
You need to be back by 7:30pm.

Cost
£2 Adults, £1 Juniors for BASOC or other orienteering club members.
£3 Adults, £1.50 Juniors for non members.
