Explanation of event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.
Pre-event Information
A coaching session for BASOC members (non-members welcome - but you will have to be self-coaching) mainly aimed at TD4/5 orienteers. A TD3 Long Orange course will be available.

Directions / Parking
Parking in the field behind the Bird Hide, Avielochan, beside the bales.
For the turn off from the A95 = ///instant.packages.resolves Take care as this is a very fast road.
Map / Terrain
There is a mixture – for TD4/5 Exercises 1 & 2 are in plantation forest (reasonably widely spaced (mainly) pine with heather underfoot in places); the Line is in birch woodland with loads of lovely contours!
The TD3 Long Orange course will be on tracks with 'cut across the forest' legs.

Meet 10.20, coaching session close about 12.30pm
Course Information
The coaching exercises are aimed at TD4 to TD5 and will be working on 'How to PLAN and then execute a long leg through terrain' and 'Interpreting contours' by following a line through a lovely contoured area.
There will also be a TD3 Long Orange course using MapRun.
The training will end with a fun activity for all.

Usual Tuesday=O costs: BASOC members = £2 adult, £1 junior / student
non-BASOC members = £3 adult, £2 junior / student.
£1 per map printed – please request in advance on the booking form.
Dog restrictions
No dogs as there might be livestock in the areas we are using.

Safety Notes
This is training and it is mid-December; please come with plenty of clothes (depending on the weather on the day) and be prepared to take them off and tie around your waist if you get too hot (or bring a small backpack / running vest).
Ticks are present in the area – full body cover recommended, check yourself thoroughly on return.
