Pre Event Info
Back to Loch Vaa SW for some lovely dark contour fun, this week concentrating on the 'Downs'.
What better way to prepare for the British Night Championships than to play here?

Directions / Parking
Get to the A95 north of Aviemore. Just NE of the railway bridge is a small turning signposted for the Laggantygowan cemetery. Turn immediately left as you leave the main road, into a small parking area. As parking is quite limited, please park as tightly as you can, and if possible share transport (we don’t recommend cycling on that road in the dark!). There is an overflow parking area to the S of the railway bridge - if you use this area please walk on the verge and use your torch so traffic is aware of you.
Map / Terrain
A small area of the Loch Vaa map will be used. This area has Loch Vaa in the middle of it and is well bounded on all sides by tracks, the railway and the A95; there are some paths and tracks through the area as well. Contour detail is very good and in winter visibility is better without leaves on the trees. The vegetation is a mixture of birch woodland with clearings and pine forest.
This week the training will be centred around depressions and re-entrants = 'Downs'. In this area of Loch Vaa, these are often characterised by having a clearing in them, making navigation a bit easier for you.
Well behaved dogs welcome.
