Welcome to 2022 – we are all looking forward to lots of enjoyable orienteering this year.
This is an early eNews, there will be a ‘January 2022 part 2’ coming out later this month.

1. NNC4 at Tolquhonnie (Carrbridge)

Clare is planner / organiser for this event on Tuesday 11th January 2022.
Hilary
is taking entries which will close on Wednesday 5th January 2022 at 8pm.
Details are all on the BASOC website.
Please let Clare know if you are able to help with control collection after your run.

2. Other NNC events

NNC5: Wednesday 19th January 2022: Craig Dunain: INVOC website for details (not yet up).
NNC6: Wednesday 26th January 2022: Findhorn Beach: MOR website for details (not yet up).
NNC2: Wednesday 9th February 2022: Culbin: MOR website for details.
This event was postponed from 1st December 2012 because of damage caused by Storm Arwen. With Culbin now being open again post the storm, Moravian are planning to reschedule the postponed NNC event to 9th February 2022.

3. BASOC maps

Lynne is carrying out an audit of the BASOC maps – are they fit for use / do some areas of the map need to be updated / etc.
Volunteers are needed to ‘run’ around an area and annotate a map with comments. Lynne can print you out a map, just let her know which area you are volunteering to have a look at.

4. CompassSport Cup

The BASOC team is entered for this event on Saturday 12th March, there are no further details at the moment. If you now want to come along to the event and have not yet let Ann know, please contact her asap!!

5. BASOC Committee Meeting

The minutes of the meeting held by Zoom on 6th December 2021 are on the website. The next committee meeting is on Thursday 13th January 2022 by Zoom.

6. Tuesday=O

We’ll be finishing January at Uath Lochans: on 18th we'll offer a short technical exercise or a longer, easier run, and on 25th we'll do a workshop on SI basics for helpers, which will involve some running around for those who want it and the opportunity for everyone to gain experience of the SI software that's used for event timing.
February details will be in the next eNews.

7. Events coming up in January / February.

Keep an eye out for events which are coming up, the calendar has many offerings!
Scottish Orienteering Calendar has a list month by month, this is always worth having a look at.
Think about a weekend away in February?
Scottish Night Champs on Saturday 12th February at Braid Hills, Edinburgh. Terrain is typical golf course terrain, mostly very runnable with patches of gorse, crags, scattered trees, blocks of trees and very few paths and a link to a RouteGadget map of Braid Hill so you can get an idea of the terrain.
This is followed by SOL1 (Scottish Orienteering League) at Gullane on Sunday 13th February 2022 and here is a link to a RouteGadget map of Gullane.

8. You have to be in it to win it . . .

World of O 'Course of the Year' - if you select your top 5 courses you get the opportunity to win a prize from 14 which have been donated. So will Lynne and Paul be heading for Poland in July?
