Lots of different things this month - new kit to order, SGM (Special General Meeting) details, help wanted at the Scottish Junior Cup in Anagach on 19th Sept, O events, and much much more!

1. BASOC kit

Would you like some new BASOC kit?
Jane has got together more BASOC kit so we are now covered for summer / winter / cycling and everything inbetween! Orders need to be in by 28th September so they can be processed and delivered in time for Christmas.
She has added long-sleeve O top, MTBO / cycling jersey and race headband to the list along with our previous options (BASOC jackets, short sleeve O tops, racing singlets, mesh O tops for hot weather, buffs, BAsocks, hoodies in purple or black with or without zips, T shirts).
Order forms (with pictures of all the items) are on the BASOC website.

2. Help wanted – and an event in Anagach

Sunday 19th September: Anagach (Grantown). While this event is aimed at Juniors, entries usually open for all others a week before the event. Are you happy to help? If so you are guaranteed a run; here is a message from the organiser, Alison Matheson
“I'm organiser for the Scottish Orienteering Junior Cup 3 event on Sunday 19th Sept. I was wondering if a call could be put out to see if any BASOC members would be willing to help on the day as although it is a 'North' event I think that MAROC and GRAMP members won't want to be hanging about to help (though I will still ask them, as well as MOR and INVOC - but MOR have their club champs the day before). I'm after helpers for the usual roles - car parking, road crossing marshalling (we're parking in the Grantown showground then walking south for 1km through the village to the Start), Starts, SI, control collecting. Would be really great if BASOC can help - helpers can enter to run even if they are not accompanying juniors. Thank you, Alison”
Please let Alison know if you are able to help alison.matheson21@gmail.com
Entries close on Sunday 12th September.

3. BASOC SGM (Special General Meeting)

Monday 20th September @ 7pm on Zoom.
You should have received an email about this – if not, then please contact the BASOC Secretary.
Further details about the SGM, including the Agenda and proposed constitution are on the BASOC website. Please read these before the meeting.

4. BASOC events.

Saturday 25th September: Loch Vaa SW
All details are on the BASOC website.

5. Other events.

Saturday 18th September: MOR Score / Club Champs at Roseisle
Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th October: Moray Mix weekend, Lossiemouth

6. Committee meeting minutes

The minutes of the recent committee meeting held by Zoom on 9th August are available on the BASOC website.

7. Tuesday=O

Andy Llewellyn (FVO and BASOC) is planning some fun in Inshriach for us for September, it's great to have fresh ideas! During September we will start to notice less daylight for our Tuesday evenings, so it's particularly important that you should finish your run within the hour.
For those who don't know (or have forgotten), we aim to carry on orienteering on Tuesday evenings right through the winter, so you'll need a good headtorch! Further information is on the Tue=O webpage.
October: 5th & 12th: Gemma is organising, details TBC. 19th & 26th October, organised by Ann McGougan at Dulnain Bridge.
November: Lynne is organising (locations TBC) and there will be an event on Tuesday 30th November at the Spey Valley Golf Course. Even although this is a golf course, there is a good technical challenge at night!

8. Juniors selected to represent Scotland.

Congratulations to Alice & Faith, they have been selected to run for the Scotland team.
Junior Inter Regional Competition: Faith ((W16) and Alice (running ‘up’ for W18); this event is the last weekend in September at Redcar.
Junior Home Internationals: Alice (W16); this event is 9th / 10th October at Guildford.
BASOC wish them success – and fun – with these events.

9. Parkrun

Don't forget parkrun is held in Aviemore, Elgin and Inverness (though Aviemore is undoubtedly the best). Free weekly timed 5k run/jog/walk open to everyone, every Saturday morning. Arrive for 9:20 briefing, run starts 9:30. Details for Aviemore Parkrun and please put "Badenoch & Strathspey Orienteers" as your club when you register!

10. BASOC Club Champs & AGM

This will take place on Saturday 13th November in Newtonmore. More details to follow. Put this date into your diary now!

11. BASOC Club Chair wanted!

Gemma is hoping to stand down at the AGM and so BASOC are looking for a new Chair. Please consider doing this for your club!
