Events, events, events - and Tuesday=O for September and October.

1. BASOC event, Nethy Bridge, 23^rd September 2023

All the details for this event are on the BASOC website. Registration is 13.00-14.00, starts 13.30-14.30, courses close 16.00. Yellow, Orange, Green and Score courses. Limited EOD - so please pre-enter via the form on the website by Tuesday 19th September. More details (e.g. final course lengths & climb) will be added when known.

If you have dog-sitters, there is the Strathspey Canine Club Companion Dog Show in the neighbouring field. Registration up to 13.00. Pedigree, mongrel, novelty (including fancy dress) and obedience classes. Lots of fun.

2. Events (local to us, other clubs)

Saturday 9^th September 2023: MOR regional event at Darnaway East. Entries via SI Entries, closing on Thursday 7^th September 2023. Details on the MOR website.

Sunday 10^th September 2023: Scottish Score Champs, Anagach, Grantown on Spey. INVOC are holding this event and entries are now open until Wednesday 6^th September 2023 on SI Entries. David Summers is organising and would appreciate help - anyone who can spare even just half an hour please contact him via INVOC website Contacts page.

Sunday 24^th September 2023: Scottish Orienteering League (SOL) at Loch Vaa. INT are holding this event. Entries via Fabian4, closing on 17^th September.

3. Tuesday=O training September & October

Training in September & October will be at Uath Lochans – it is nearly a year since we used this area.
September will have a ‘Meet & greet’ person there (thank you Marion, Clare, Jo & Ian and Hilary); as sunset is getting earlier and earlier, it is requested that you take a head torch out with you on the 19^th and 26^th September (BASOC has 3 x head torches available for members to borrow - contact Hilary if you want to take advantage of this membership perk!). There are 8 exercises and all is explained in the T=O training notes which can be found with the maps in a Google drive folder.
The same exercises will be out in October but there is no formal BASOC Tuesday=O. If you are thinking of going along for 6:30pm on a Tuesday in October, let Lynne know and she will let you know of any other interest.

4. MOR MTBO events

MOR (Steve Smirthwaite and Oscar Shepherd) are planning 3 MTBO events in September:

Friday 8^th September, Sanquhar. 6pm mass start. Using the unused 6 day MTBO maps. 6k sprint course.
Saturday 16^th September, Dallas Dhu. 10 -10.30 starts. Using the unused 6 day MTBO maps. 8k Middle distance course.
Saturday 23^rd September, Culloden. 10 -10.30 starts. New map (it would be possible to do this and then the BASOC event at Nethy in the afternoon!),

5. BASOC AGM 2023 and Club Champs

BASOC AGM 2023 will be held in Boat of Garten Community Hall (TBC) on Saturday 9^th December at a time TBC.
This will be followed by the BASOC Club Champs in the early afternoon (planned by Andy Llewellyn FVO, thank you) on Loch Vaa NE (TBC). The Club Champs will follow our usual format of a Score event with a carefully calculated handicap system. There will then be a tea and 'bring a cake’ social in the hall (TBC).
A good turn out of members will be appreciated.

6. Northern Night Cup

The NNC is starting to take shape with the BASOC events decided.

Wednesday 29 November: (Purple) Jane planning, venue tbc
Wednesday 24 January: Janette planning, (Aviemore) Spey Valley Golf Course.

Dates for INVOC and MOR events are not yet confirmed.

7. BASOC Calendar

The up to date Calendar is available to download from the BASOC website.

8. BASOC Board meeting

The Board met on Monday 14^th August 2023 and the minutes will soon be available on the website.
