Get up close and personal to nature at the Cairngorms Nature BIG Weekend on May 12-15. With dozens of events planned it will be a Park-Wide celebration of nature with something for all the family.

BASOC is offering you the chance to ‘Have a go at orienteering’, Saturday 14th May 1.30-3.30, in Church Woods, FREE of charge.

The weekend kicks off with a special panel discussion entitled ‘Landscapes and Livelihoods’ at Boat of Garten Hall and hosted by TV naturalist Gordon Buchanan. Wee ones will love to hear stories of minibeasts in Grantown or go on a squirrel hunt and explore the woolly meadows in Tomintoul. Over in Deeside you can enjoy a day of family nature fun in Glen Tanar or ‘step inside’ a capercaillie lek in Ballater. There are behind the scenes events and specialist walks and talks aimed at the seasoned nature lover. Many events are free so please book your place early to avoid disappointment. You can book your place, get more information and find a list of all the events happening throughout the weekend on the Big Weekend website.
