Schools League 2017

Northern Night Cup SuccessScottish NIght Championships

BASOC showed our strength in night orienteering at the Northern NIght Cup series that concluded at Lochandinty last Wednesday evening. We had the 1st, 2nd & 4th places on the long course, 1st & 2nd on the Medium and 1st on the short.
We now have the opportunity to shine again, but this time on a larger stage, the Scottish Night Championships at Darnaway on the 18th February. Moravian are hosting the event this year along with the Scottish Sprint Championships on the Saturday. So whilst we don't practice running around the streets at high speed we are good in the forest, in the dark.

Podium for Jess in Ring of Steall Skyrace

Jess has been racing in the mountains...read about it here!
On Saturday Jess donned a different pair of running shoes to take part in the inaugural Ring of Steall Skyrace. The younger sister of the extreme Glen Coe Skyline (the one Johannes ran well in last year), this race takes in the peaks of the famous Ring of Steall mountains in the Mamores. At 29km with 2,500m climb, it’s a pretty brutal race! A bit different to our usual orienteering races.
