Paul & I have now returned from our extended wanderings; I am looking forward to catching up with some BASOC at Tuesday = O training over the next few weeks. Meanwhile, here are a few things for you. If you have anything for either the website or the BASOC news then please it send to Lynne.
This sounds grand - but anyone can enter if you are older than 35 years and this year over 4000 orienteers arrived in Denmark for the competition. The oldest class this year (with competitors) was M95!
Upon gaining selection to the Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad (ScotJOS), Izzy, Anna and I were able to attend the biannual ScotJOS Summer Tour- hurrah! This is when the squad heads off abroad for around two weeks, training, racing and generally enjoying summer in Scandinavia!
It is all most the end of June, school is out and we are all enjoying the hot and sunny weather (yes it is hot & sunny in Denmark as well). This eNews has been a bit delayed as we had virtually no internet signal for a few days.
May has been a busy month, so here is the news, part 2!
May is a busy month on the orienteering calendar - lots of opportunities for racing and training, as well as having a chat and sharing some cake!
The second part of May 2018 eNews will come out towards the end of the month.
The IOF (International Orienteering Federation) has recently updated the specifications of some map symbols. Below is a guide to those changes, originally produced by Berkshire Orienteers and now reformatted to make it easier to read on small screens.

It is a real pleasure to be running in drier forests and warmer temperatures - will it last? A shorter eNews this time - please do read all and take action though!
The days are starting to become longer, we are nearly at the end of the Tuesday = DarkO season. The orienteering ‘season’ has started with club members competing at the Scottish Sprint Champs (Stirling University) and the CompassSport Trophy (Beecraigs, near Linlithgow). Gemma, Izzy and Anna all achieved excellent results; everyone had something to smile about and more experience was gained by all.
There is a lot of news again this week, read on for more information!
There is a lot taking place over the next few weeks and months - make a note of dates in your diary so that you do not miss any orienteering opportunities!
First of all, thank you to all who have renewed their membership of the club, Scottish Orienteering and some who have also taken out British Orienteering membership. Jane (Cox) will be in touch if you have forgotten. Please do consider joining, as a minimum, the club and Scottish Orienteering, it does help to support the development of our sport.
