Podium for Jess in Ring of Steall Skyrace

Jess has been racing in the mountains...read about it here!

On Saturday Jess donned a different pair of running shoes to take part in the inaugural Ring of Steall Skyrace. The younger sister of the extreme Glen Coe Skyline (the one Johannes ran well in last year), this race takes in the peaks of the famous Ring of Steall mountains in the Mamores. At 29km with 2,500m climb, it’s a pretty brutal race! A bit different to our usual orienteering races.

BASOC Schools Orienteering LeagueAbernethy Primary win 2016 title

You And The Map

The series is now finished for 2016. After a late surge from Carrbridge Primary, Abernethy managed to hold off the competition and have won the 2016 title. There was a desperately close contest for 3rd place between Aviemore & Deshar.

Some quick stats: the number of runners increased every week up to a fantastic turnout of 52 for the final round. In total there have been 179 runs. The total distance run by all runners combined is a staggering 372km!

I am aiming to complete my Level 2 Orienteering Coach qualification by offering a block of 6 progressive coached night orienteering sessions. These will run alongside normal Tue = O from 6th October to 10th November. There are only 6 spaces available. You'll just pay the usual Tue=O charge (or your Bulk Payment option).
