Run wild in the woods
Over the winter months this is in the dark, so you need a torch*. We go out orienteering, usually with a navigational focus. Call it training or just playing, it’s as hard as you want it to be, both physically and technically!
Newcomers are welcome and there is always someone to explain things and help you get started.
*We have three 1000 lumen headtorches for use by club members at Tuesday night O. Particularly aimed at relative newcomers - these will get you on a level playing field with the pros!
Meet at 6:30 prompt. Please come appropriately dressed for the weather on the night, the sort of thing you would wear if you were going for a trail run.
You need to be back by 7:30pm.
£2 Adults, £1 Juniors for BASOC or other orienteering club members.
£3 Adults, £1.50 Juniors for non members.
November: Tuesdays based around Grantown. Lynne will be planning and delivering.
December and January: Wednesday night cup races, Northern Night Cup website, suitable for anyone wanting to give night-o a go! See the website for more details on courses available. Lift sharing encouraged - keep an eye on our facebook page.
Tuesdays - if there's appetite for it, then we could meet in different locations for a trail run. Let Jess know at training if you would be keen for this.
February: Mehmet's strength training - back by popular demand! Tuesdays. Likely to be in Aviemore.
March: tbc, but Tuesday night-o training, gearing up for daylight again and early season races.
If night-o is not for you, then there are other opportunities. We would love to see you at our AGM and informal Club Champs on 25th November (Carrbridge). Festive fun in Nethybridge on 26th December.
Other clubs also put on events that we can attend, see www.moravianorienteering.org.uk and www.invoc.org.uk for details.
