3. BASOC Club Membership

Membership of BASOC is now open for 2021. Full details on how to re-join and the benefits of doing so can be found at the link here.
If you are already a member of BASOC and Scottish Orienteering / British Orienteering, you will have received an email to ask you to renew – it would be great if you could action this quickly! Although 2020 turned out to be an unusual year to put it mildly, we go forward to 2021 in the hope that orienteering as a safe and healthy family friendly sport will be able to offer a wide range of opportunities. Please keep an eye on the BASOC website for all the details.
So, please re-join today – what are you waiting for! Should you have any questions or queries, then please do not hesitate to contact our membership secretary, Jane Cox (details are on the ‘Contacts page of the website).

4. Tuesday=DarkO

Hilary Q is doing something in a forest for December (Uath Lochans) and January (not yet decided where) - weather & Covid-19 permitting.
Please continue to check the website.

5. MORAVIAN events

BASOC are welcome to enter MOR events.
Some BASOC have ventured to these events – the Hayes family, along with Clare, Alice & Lynne were at Oakenhead on 21stNovember.
On the night of 2nd December, Tim (Gomersall, works at Raigmore), Clare, Alice & Lynne put their NightO skills to the test at Blairs Loch / Altyre.
Wednesday 16th December at Culbin – another DarkO event!! This will be planned by Phil & Fergus Kenyon (who have BASOC membership - get your entry in to support them!).
Go to the MOR website for pre-entry via SIEntries.

6. Covid-19 reminder.

If you're considering entering an event you should check the Local Protection Level of your home and where the event location is - Scottish Government page is probably best.
Adhere to travel advice, rules or laws that are in place at the time. The Scottish Government page gives links to current details including travel restrictions for each level. Orienteering does NOT count as essential travel!

7. Lockdown O is back – as Orienteering Unlocked.

The best of Lockdown Orienteering / Orienteering Unlocked 2020 - Christmas / End of December. More info end of November.

8. Do you wear glasses for orienteering?

If so, please help with this survey.
We've been contacted by William Smith, a student at Loughborough university asking for glasses-wearing orienteers to fill in his survey.
"I am currently studying Meng Product Design Engineering at Loughborough University and am undertaking my Part C personal project whereby I am aiming to design a device that reduces/ eliminates misting that occurs on orienteers glasses when they compete.
I was wondering if you were able to distribute my survey about misting problems in orienteering to members of your club so that I can gain a better insight into the problem?
Here is a link to the survey."
